Strike a pose for heritage language eduction: try out the photo booth advocacy tool

October 1, 2024

The Global Call to Action for Heritage Language Education was launched in February 2024, but how can we keep the message alive? HLE Network is developing ways to engage people in fun and easy ways that you can also use at your language advocacy events!

At our recent annual networking event, we brought the Global Call to Action to life with a festive photo booth setup! With just a few simple materials -— like a fireworks backdrop and tassel props for a sparkler effect -— we created an eye-catching booth where participants could pose holding up powerful statements supporting heritage language education.

The booth need not stand alone. It pairs well with our newly launched checklist for taking practical action. People can make a bold statement with a social media post using the picture, and they can get clear "homework" with the checklist flyer, making the booth an overall fun and effective way to raise awareness and truly spark action.

You, too, can set up your own photo booth to engage others! Download our PDF instructions to inspire instructions tailored to your event. You can also download our pre-made statement cards in English and Dutch, which you can adapt to other languages as needed. Don’t forget to share the photos using #GlobalCalltoAction and #heritagelanguageeducation.
