Big win for multilingualism: Dutch Education Council endorses home languages

A new report from the Dutch Education Council (Onderwijsraad) shows that developing the home language does not hinder academic success. This is an important confirmation that multilingualism is enriching! Check out coverage from the Jeugd Journaal and NPO Radio1.

We are hopeful that this will lead to more cooperation with heritage language programs. We also hope that teacher training programs will offer more insight into informal and community-based language education. This way, we can ensure that the full picture of the child's education is taken into account.
