Event description

DRONGO PARTNER MEETING

HLE Network is proud to host the 6th Drongo Partner Meeting! The central theme is "Activism for Heritage Language Education."

Dr. Gisi Cannizzaro, founder and Managing Director of HLE Network, will present how heritage language programs in the Brainport region collaborate with one another and with other partners to provide education that respects the region’s great linguistic diversity.

We are pleased to welcome an international guest, Dr. Linda Egnatz, Executive Director of Joint National Committee for Languages - National Council for Languages and International Studies (JNCL-NCLIS). It is a coalition that brings together companies, professional associations, NGOs, and experts to advocate for language, multilingualism, and language policy in the United States — an inspiring example for Drongo partners, from a different context.

There will be plenty of opportunity to network with partners from Drongo and from HLE Network.

SPECIAL Q&A SESSION: GLOBAL SEAL OF BILITERACY

Linda Egnatz is also Executive Director of the Global Seal of Biliteracy. The Global Seal of Biliteracy offers a pathway to a free international language certification aligned to the CEFR Reference Level Descriptions. Research shows that students are more engaged and highly motivated when offered the opportunity to have their language accomplishments recognized with a workplace credential.

Between 14:00 and 15:30 on February 11 (just before the Drongo Partner Meeting) it is possible to attend a presentation by Linda about the Global Seal, with the opportunity to ask questions. Would you like to attend? Email hlenet.org@gmail.com to receive the Google Calendar invitation.

Program

The program will be posted in January.
