One parent's success story

December 22, 2020

In a recent video about the U.S. Coalition of Community-Based Heritage Language Schools, you can hear a first-hand account of what it is like to send children to a HL program every weekend. Maria Carreria speaks with Joy Kreeft Peyton and Tommy Lu about the work of the US. coalition, and Mr. Lu is given the chance to reflect on what it was like for his children to attend the Chinese School of Delaware:

I took away their weekends, ever since they were 5 years old, all the way to 10th Grade. So every weekend they had to come with me whether they liked it or not . . . [but this is because I believe that] the community-based schools provide something that a single family cannot provide.

If you want to hear Mr. Lu's inspiring story about what it is like to get four children through a heritage language program -- and what it is like to witness them gaining appreciation for this important form of education, have a listen!
