Valued partner Holland Expat Center South celebrates 5000 days serving newcomers

November 9, 2023

Congratulations to Holland Expat Center South, which celebrated its 5000th day on November 9, 2023. The agency supports Brabant's international community and their employers -- and it has also supported HLE Network fundamentally over the past years, for which we are very thankful!

Beatboxing with Brabanters

Several individuals from HLE Network attended the celebration, including representatives from Spanish, Bulgarian, French, Italian, and Romanian heritage language activities. In fact, a few of them could be found beatboxing together with "hoog-in-de-boom" members of local governments and corporations!

Prior to the beatboxing entertainment, the program included a panel discussion with Commissioner Martijn van Gruijthuijsen, Alderman Stijn Steenbakkers, Marjolein de Hooge from Society & Community Engagement ASML, Ilse de Graaf from Recruitment Business Partner, and Meagin van der Westhuizen from the Expat Spouses Initiative, moderated by Kris De Prins the Director of Holland Expat Center South.

HLE Network extends sincere thanks to Holland Expat Center South for its support over the years. We calculated that it has been 1832 days that Holland Expat Center South has extended help for the cause of heritage language education! November 2, 2018, was the date of the first meeting to discuss the idea to list available heritage language programs on the center's website. Their staff agreed to the idea right away, and they have since shown an appreciation and enthusiasm for our organization simply unmatched by any other in the region! In particular, continuous help from Josine Frankhuizen, Policy Developer and Project Leader Living In Program, has been integral to the success of HLE Network thus far.

The Expat Center has made sure that information about HLE Network's directory of language programs is shared with all of their newcomers, in the form of a flyer as well as via entries in the city's Living In and Expat Guide booklets. The Expat Center has also co-organized numerous successful events about multilingualism together with us, and their communications team regularly gives visibility to the activities organized by individual language groups.

We look forward to continued collaboration!
