The Korean School of Eindhoven (KSE) continues to serve as an excellent example within our network of language programs! Teachers from the KSE demonstrate exceptional commitment to developing new skills and collaborating professionally. This spring, they joined other Korean language school teachers from across Europe for a conference focused on exploring how to pass on the Korean language and culture to future generations.

The event brought together 167 participants, including teachers and staff from 64 Korean language schools across 18 European countries

The 20th Annual Teachers' Training was held over three days from May 16 to 18 at the Novotel Hotel in Noisy-le-Grand, a suburb of Paris. The event brought together 167 participants, including teachers and staff from 64 Korean language schools across 18 European countries, along with distinguished guests. The gathering was made possible in part by support from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in France.

Exploring heritage language education in the Digital Age

This year’s program with the theme “Rooted in Heritage, Reaching the World” explored how Korean language schools can transmit the Korean language and cultural identity in the digital era. Practical strategies were shared to help guide teachers of Korean in the context of AI and rapidly evolving technology.

From lectures to group discussions

During the three-day training, Professors Taek-Soo Kim (Kyung Hee Cyber University) and Jung-Hee Han (Baekseok University) led a total of five practical lectures. Topics included “Korean Language Education in the Age of Full-Stack AI” and “Language Teaching Strategies in Multicultural Classrooms.” On May 17, participants took part in small group discussions divided by student age groups—preschool & elementary, middle & high school, and adult/multicultural classes. In addition to the academic program, the event featured a cultural tour of historic Paris and community-building activities that strengthened friendships among the participants.

Looking ahead

The training offered an opportunity to reflect on the current state of Korean language education abroad and to collaboratively shape its future. As one participant shared:

“Korean language schools are becoming more than just places of learning—they are evolving into cultural roots that connect future generations to the identity of the Korean community in Europe.”

There is strong hope that these training programs will continue. Not only do these events improve the expertise of teachers, they also build a sense of mission among Korean language educators!

Many thanks to the KSE for sharing this inspiring news, keep up the incredible work!
